Dreaming in the Caymans

Let me take you on a little journey to the sunny Cayman Islands, where I experienced a true dream come true.

So, picture this: it’s early May, and while most people are thinking about spring cleaning, I’m packing up my camera gear and heading to paradise. The mission? To shoot stunning swimwear content with a sprinkle of Cayman Islands Fashion Week magic. Not a bad gig, right?

I managed to wrangle a few swimwear designers to jump on board, which was a feat in itself. But the real fun began when I got to work with some incredible models from all over the Caribbean and the US. One session in particular stands out, featuring the fabulous quartet of Teresa, Misty, Mikell Reed Carroll, and her sister.

Now, let me paint you a picture of that day. I’m behind the wheel, cruising down the east shore of the island in my rental car, on my way to pick up these four stunning women. As you can imagine, this wasn’t just any drive—this was the kind of drive that makes you feel like you’ve just stepped into a James Bond movie. I mean, who wouldn’t feel a bit like 007 on a mission when picking up a bevy of beauties for a photoshoot at your private villa?

Time was ticking, though. We had a tiny four-hour window to pull off this shoot before the models had to dash back for their runway fittings. The pressure was on, but hey, no pressure, right?

We were shooting Katya Suzdaleva 🌺Fashion designer in Miami, FL.—an all-white set that screamed elegance and sophistication. The designs were perfect for the backdrop of the Cayman Islands’ sunshine, turquoise beaches, and impossibly blue skies. As I snapped away, capturing the effortless beauty of the models and the stunning swimwear, I couldn’t help but think, “Not bad for a reluctant photographer, huh?”

All in all, it was a day of laughter, a bit of scrambling, and a lot of stunning photos. Just another day in the life of Barry Freeman, reluctantly living the dream.

Stay tuned for more adventures, and remember: sometimes, the best moments happen when you least expect them!
